When You Need God To...

When you need God to Move. When you need God to Act. When you need God to Heal You. When you need God to _______ (fill in the blank).

Apply these basic principles whenever you need God to show up and do something on your behalf. Remember, it is not God who is at fault. God is not the one delaying your receiving a breakthrough in a specific area. Stop blaming God for your situation! You bear responsibility for your own actions!

Your answer to your prayers and petitions, may not be getting timely answered to your satisfaction, due to reasons that you can change. God is a God of order. He operates within a system of laws and rules that He has established. Our goal is to discover what His ways are, so that we can cooperate with them, and speed up timely answers to solve problems that we are facing. Follow these 12 steps to get the attention of God.

"And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." 1 John 1:4-10.

God Partners With Man

God partners with Man to accomplish things. It is our duty to respond to, and obey, what God is asking of us. Jesus knocks at the door, and is waiting for us to hear His voice, and open the door, to invite Him to come in and sup with us (see Revelation 3:20). God chooses to work through men.

1. Get Rid Of All Unbelief.

Unbelief is deadly. It paralyzes, immobilizes, and destroys. Unbelief demonstrates that you don't trust God, His Word and His promises. Doubt and unbelief will likely open the door to fear, which is the opposite of faith. We must have faith, and doubt not, concerning the words and promises of God. Belief is so important to God, that in Acts 16:31 it states, that if we believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved. God wants to be believed above all else.

It shows disrespect and dishonor, when a person demonstrates unbelief toward God and His promises that are contained in His Word. "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5,6. God longs to be acknowledged, believed and trusted.

2. Dwell In Unity With God In The Spirit.

God desires that we dwell in unity with Him in the Spirit. We should sing spiritual songs, and worship Him in Spirit and in truth. "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:23-24.

Where the Spirit Of The Lord is there is freedom and liberty. "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." 2 Corinthians 3:17. God wants us to walk in the freedom that He freely gives to those who dwell in unity with Him in the Spirit. "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Romans 8:1.

3. Listen So As To Hear His Voice And Instructions.

God can speak with a still small voice (see 1 Kings 19:12). Every instruction that falls from God's lips is important. Do not neglect what He is speaking for you to do. Disobedience and delayed obedience normally bring a strong rebuke from the Lord. Many people are waiting on God to move on their behalf, but don't realize that a disobeyed instruction is to blame for the delay in the movement of God. God waits for us to do our part, then moves once we are obedient. Timing is important in following out instructions, as they often are time sensative. You can "miss God" by not timely carrying out the instructions He spoke to you.

4. Cast Out All Confusion And Dissenting Voices.

Confusion is not of God. He is not the author of confusion. "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, ..." 1 Corinthians 14:33. When you hear dissenting voices and confusion coming into your life or into the house of God, you know it is sparked by an attack of the devil. God is not pleased.

Confusion and dissension will serve to inhibit the move of God in a situation. "For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work." James 3:16. Replace confusion with the Word Of God. To make a change, find Scripture verses that speak to the problem you are experiencing. Hold onto them, and allow them to become so real to you that they "drown out" all confusion and every other evil thing.

5. Dwell In Unity With The Household Of Faith.

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" Psalm 133:1.

We must strive to dwell with our Christian brothers and sisters in an atmosphere of unity. Only then will we truly see the move from God be manifested. Unity can usher in the Presence Of God, just as a lack of unity can prohibit the fullness of a move of God from happening in a place. The devil knows that a lack of unity among believers in Christ will stop or limit God from moving. That is why we must strive for unity, at all times, with other Christians, especially in a worship, prayer or church service.

We must be sure to not have unforgiveness toward anyone, as that closes the door for God to forgive us. "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." Mark 11:25-26. "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:" Luke 6:37.

6. Find A Scriptural Solution In God's Word (Apply Godly Wisdom).

God's Word contains His Wisdom. Answers to life's problems are contained in God's Word. We must seek the promises contained in His Word and apply them in our life. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truths.

7. Ask For Divine Guidance From The Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is guiding, teaching, and speaking to those who are listening and who are being obedient to God. It is only with the Holy Spirit's help that we can learn to grow in Christ and understand God's Word.

8. Seek Counsel From Other Trusted Christian Believers and Mentors.

Get advice, instruction and Godly counsel from mentors and other trusted Christian believers.

9. Be Proactive With Proper Prayer Sessions Regularly.

Prayer changes things. The world has been shaken numerous times due to the fervent prayer of righteous men and women. Combine prayer with a walk of humility, and watch God show up and do great exploits.

10. Learn From The Past To Avoid A Costly Mistake In Your Future.

We should all learn from our mistakes in the past to prevent costly mistakes from happening in the future.

11. Overcome Rebellion (Sin) With Holy Living.

Sin is rebellion. We need to overcome sin and rebellion by Holy living. Living in a Holy lifestyle will likely cause Godly people to be drawn to you.

"Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God." Leviticus 20:7

"But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." 1 Peter 1:15-16.

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." 1 John 1:8-10.

12. Remember, Timing Is Dependent On Relationships.

God moves on whom He desires, when He desires. We can not force God to move, but we can cooperate where He is moving. We can ask God for things, but He is the sole judge about the timing and delivery of things we ask for. God responds to those who "Are His". The level of the deepness of your relationship with God is a factor in how quickly you get your prayers answered. It follows that the closer you are to God, the closer He will likely be manifested to you.

While God is not a respector of persons, "Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:" Acts 10:34, God does respond to hunger, thirst and the relationship a person has with Him. All can come, if they properly meet His requirements, but not everyone properly responds to Him. If you expect God to move and don't have a relationship with Him, beware. Make sure you have a true "born again" experience with Christ, otherwise at the end you might hear:

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matthew 7:21-23.

"Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart." 2 Timothy 2:19-22.

There are two types of vessels in life: ones that bring honor to the Lord, and vessels that dishonor Him. People will fall into one of these two categories of vessels. I pray all true believers in Christ will be found worthy by Him to serve as vessels of honor in His House and His Kingdom.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9.
